Located adjacent to Tenney Park in Madison, Wisconsin, The Duncan is a luxury multifamily development designed to create an elevated resident experience through thoughtfully curated amenities, inviting common spaces, and sophisticated model residences.
When architecture firm Potter Lawson assumed the project late in the design process, the team moved quickly to maintain the project’s schedule and engaged Atmosphere Commercial Interiors to furnish common spaces, complete two model units, source custom artwork and accessories, and oversee installation to completion.
“We joined the project almost immediately after Potter Lawson came on board because the specification timeline was incredibly compressed,” recalls Atmosphere’s Stephanie Boyd. “It required constant collaboration to keep the project moving while staying true to the design intent.”
With specifications moving quickly, Atmosphere worked closely with Potter Lawson to identify furnishings and finishes that maintained the intended aesthetic while keeping the project on track. “Our role was helping preserve the designer’s vision while guiding the developer toward the areas that would make the greatest impact,” says Boyd.
A curated mix of custom and specified furnishings helped shape The Duncan’s distinct identity. Custom banquettes from FurnitureLab and commissioned artwork through Concepts in Art were complemented by selections from West Elm, Four Hands, Terra Outdoor, Polywood, and FLOR.
Beyond procurement, Atmosphere’s local presence became one of the team’s greatest advantages.
Being based in Madison allowed the team to attend client meetings in person, oversee installations firsthand, coordinate with numerous vendors, and manage the final styling details that transformed completed spaces into welcoming environments.
“Having boots on the ground made a real difference,” Boyd explains. “We were able to spend time onsite, solve issues quickly, and make sure every detail came together exactly as intended. The client really appreciated that level of involvement.”
Behind the scenes, the project required extensive coordination. A dedicated Atmosphere team managed pricing, quoting, order tracking, and vendor communication across dozens of manufacturers, while Stacy Wieme assisted with space plans, referenced renderings for finish packages, and coordinated presentation of materials that kept the project aligned from specification through installation.
The Duncan demonstrates Atmosphere’s collaborative approach to multifamily projects: partnering closely with architects and designers, understanding where investments create the greatest impact, and delivering spaces that remain true to the original vision while meeting practical project goals.
“Every multifamily project deserves its own identity,” says Boyd. “Our job is to help bring that identity to life while making smart decisions that serve both the design and the developer.”
