Rakuten continues to expand its office in the historic Ironworks Campus in downtown Beloit. As an online cash back and shopping rewards company with local employees primarily in technology, HR, and customer service roles, they sought to optimize their commercial real estate and enhance collaboration among team members, while attracting and retaining both year-round and seasonal staff.

The furniture and finishes team at Atmosphere Commercial Interiors in Rockford, IL, helped Rakuten achieve those goals by proposing a creative 120-degree workstation layout that maximizes the space, helps control noise, and allows supervisors to work closely with their groups. A variety of informal meeting areas and conference rooms are located throughout the workspace as well to facilitate collaboration.

Employee well-being is another key focus for Rakuten. Large windows and skylights provide abundant access to natural light. A bright and open cafeteria with an assortment of games and seating areas offers catered meals and access to an outdoor patio overlooking the river. Workstations with height-adjustable desks encourage movement, and natural materials and artwork bring the outdoors in to the newly renovated space.

Atmosphere is excited to be an ongoing partner with Rakuten in the creation of an innovative and inviting workspace and their continued growth in the Beloit River District.
